When is a fall during pulling up/walking serious?

Ugh-totally hating myself tonight.

LO fell at church tonight while standing on the floor holding on to a chair seat. I was right there but I turned my back for a second. He fell and hit his head on the floor(carpeted cement). He screamed but calmed down after a 2 minutes and I didn't see and bumps but I'm still worried since it was such a hard surface.

Of course this isn't the first time he has fallen and I know it wont be the last. But how do you know when to call/go to the doctor? If they are acting okay after a fall from standing/walking/pulling up can I assume they are okay?

I try to always be near LO when he is cruising and standing but sometimes you make a mistake and they fall anyway(even on their heads). I just want to cry.

How are you all handling any falls?

Re: When is a fall during pulling up/walking serious?

  • Well my kid has fallen and hit her head a few times. It sucks and I always feel awful but man they can go down fast!!

As long as the crying quits fairly quickly, there's no vomiting and their pupils seem normal I think they are fine.

Sorry your LO fell but glad he's ok! Don't feel bad it happens to all of us.

  • I think the only serious symptom to look for is vomiting and lethargy, but im sure your lo is just fine. It sucks when they start walking because bumps and bruises are all part of it, just make sure and cover him in mommy kisses. Smile
