Hunter stays with my mom and little sister (20 months) during the days while I work, but since I am on bed rest we still bring him over. On Tuesday, her MDO sent home a note saying that hand, foot, and mouth was confirmed in the class and on Wednesday Isabella woke up with blisters and a fever. Today, Hunter has a 100.3 fever (after Tylenol), and is sooooo miserable. I am sure he'll wake up with some blisters tomorrow.
Has anyone else dealt with this? Any tips or home remedies? Since it is a virus, the doctor's office said there isn't anything they will do for it, esp if he is drinking fine and having enough wet diapers.
Re: hand, foot, and mouth disease :(
Not going to lie - the week my toddler had HFM was probably one of the hardest. (It was a little different since he was 19months and DD was 1month old at the time.) He pretty much refused solid food so it was all milk, smoothies, pouches, and pasta. Everything made him cry. We took turns sleeping in a recliner with him.
We alternated Tylenol and Advil and really tried to not let them wear off for the first few days.
If you're pregnant you should call your OB - there is some kind exposure risk but I think it's pretty low.
