Birthstone

So as Mother's Day approaches, as well as our LOs' BDAYs of course, which stone do y'all consider to be THE birthstone for June? I've seen 3 different ones and just don't know which one is accurate. I'm not a fan of pearls, but I think Alexandrite is pretty neat.

I still can't wear necklaces because Gabe yanks on them. And my glasses. And my hair. And my earrings. And my mole on my collarbone...... Little stinker!

Lol Elliot has broken the chain on my necklace twice already! Each time the guy a Jared's replaced it for free. Last time he upgraded it to a stronger chain and it has held up to the pulling and tugging. My hair is in a constant pony tail now though! And he rips off DHs glasses all the time. Lol!

  • I'm a June baby too so it's always been pearl to me. :)

  • I prefer pearl. I actually love pearls and have lots of real pearl jewellery already, so I doubt DH will be getting me any more.

DH got me an Albeit letter B necklace [DS's initial] for Christmas and he's broken the chain twice, too! The jeweller thinks it's hilarious. And laughed when I walked in the second time, just a couple weeks after he fixed it the first time!

  • I love Alexandrite but I could be more partial to it because my son's name is Alexander so I feel its just perfect. My ex has the same birth month and was all about getting me pearl stuff so it was more personal from him so I have a real distaste for them now

  • My DH gave me an alexandrite ring last year when we found out that lo was due in June.  I love it, the stone changes colors based on the light.

  • I don't think that the "official" one matters too much. I like the pearl over Alexandrite, and DH got me a belated mother's day gift (that I picked out). It is a pearl ring. He waited 1) to see if DS decided to come early (as in May early) and 2) so that my fingers stopped sweling and came back closer to their original size,so that i wouldn't have to keep getting the ring resized.

You should get what you like since you have a choice.

  • My love lies with Alexandrite, but when I get to thinking about my son, and what he would most likely pick, it will probably be the moonstone. Pearls and Alex. are very feminine, moonstone is more rugged. Since all three are considered June stone, I will probably pick moonstone for any jewelery I get just because it is a better fit to my son. His birthstone isn't about me, that is what I have my own sapphire for. This is just how I look at it. :)
