Facebook group?

I meant to send a PM to the person who was putting together the Facebook group for this board, but I never got an invite...when I checked my inbox, I apparently either sent the message to myself somehow, or sent it to no one at all. (Brain trust, I know...derp-derp)

Can someone please tell me who to contact about being part of the group?

PS:

Don't hate me I legitimately can't find the thread where this was discussed before. My post history won't let me look past the last 20 posts, and I can't find it by looking through the forums either.

Give the admin your email address. The invite will come to your email, it won't show in FB, then when you click join, you need to wait for the admin to add you before you see the group activity.

It was not my intention to have people's personal information outed without permission like that. I was honestly just hoping the person leading the group would drop me a PM.

I'm going to delete this thread in about an hour (ETA: The next time I'll have net access)- not because I dislike the advice or responses I was given, but because I want to protect people's personal information from being spread around. Giving advance warning so I don't get accused of a DD.

I must be the only one that thinks it is stupid that a facebook group has already been created.

Perhaps it is because I have a long history on TB (longer than what this screen name says), but giving away your IRL names before you have started to weed the crazy out is not encouraged.

There are crazies that will screw with you IRL. Just think of that before joining the FB group with a bunch of random women.

You gonna get stalked by the craaaazaaaayyysssss... We had one on our Fe12 BMB. She used to take peoples pics of their bump from HBDB and use it as her own profile picture on other forums. I mean that was just one of lots of crazy happenings.

Oh for cryin out loud. I think whoever made the group limited it to a certain number and that was it. We all agreed it was a good idea, in order to keep it small.

It will implode. I've seen husbands emailed over the "concern" about how much time is spent on TB vs with their child. I have seen employers emailed. I have seen all sorts of weird stuff because people are just too lax with their personal info.

That being said, over the past 6 years I have some amazing e-friends? But this quickly to allow people into your personal life? STUPID.

I'm sure you didn't do it on purpose, but I think the whole point is that there are a lot of new people who don't know any better who are a part of the Facebook group, and that makes anyone who participates in the Facebook group at risk of having their personal information disclosed on a public website.
Also, there's no way to know if the people who are participating in Facebook are who they say they are.  I know it would probably take some work, but I bet there are lots of fake Facebook accounts out there.
I'm sure you meant no harm, and I bet no harm was done, but it's still scary how easy it is for it to happen.

I know a lot of the people on here are very familiar with it but I'm one who isn't. I also apologized to the person directly. I didn't realize there were so many rules and regulations on here.

But I thought that the FB page wasn't closed? That's what I was told on the last FB post. I knew that was back pedaling. There is ALWAYS drama between the bmbs and the FB groups, especially when the FB group starts excluding people. FB groups start drama on almost every bmb.

Ok.  I'm not sure what your comment about being on this board all day means so I won't bother with it.
Just for future reference - never post any personal information about another person on the internet without their permission.  Ever.
Not trying to be snarky, but that shouldn't be something that needs to be explained.
Oh and reporting the post shouldn't have been a big deal.  That was just to get it taken care of.  The bump won't ban you or anything for that.  Probably not, anyway, considering that posting other people's personal information is against their TOS.  

I didn't mean anything negative. All I meant was I only get a chance to check in here a couple times a day and I have a hard time finding the posts because there are so many so I can't keep up. I don't care if it was reported. It was a mistake. I didn't mean to do it and I was just trying to help the people who asked to be added to the group.

Just tossing out my personal experience here, but when I was posting on the board for DD--throughout my whole pregnancy-- it was awesome up until the group decided to create a FB group after all the LOs were born. Soon after, the board completely dissolved, yet the FB group decided they didn't want to take on all of the members. So a lot of folks were left out in the cold. I thought that was really too bad, since some people still wanted to participate, but in an anonymous way (i.e. not FB). I hope that creating a FB group this early (this seems WAAAYYY early to me) doesn't mean that we undermine the info sharing and support that we can all provide to each other on this board.

I honestly wanted to join the group because personally *I* am more comfortable talking to a real face than an easily created message board account. I had no idea the FB group was going to be a limited, exclusive deal. I honestly just thought it was a matter of "hey, PM me and I'll add you to this nifty group so we can get to know each other better."

I have no interest in being part of that mess. I have done so before under other circumstances and they have always ended badly (though not for the reasons cited so far in this thread).

Therefore...if, in the next few months to years, I hopefully make friends with some of you, we can add each other individually and enjoy our company while also still enjoying this forum.

Long live the BMB. I'm sorry for stirring this up! *yawns and goes to find a snack*

ETA: God my brain is complicated these days. I tried to make ze post less rambly. @_@
