Babies: 6 - 9 Months

Need some recommendations please!

I just wanted some recommendations on baby wash and shampoo and lotion for their faces and body.  I think I need to find different kinds.  I use Johnsons on my DD for her body and hair, and aveeno baby lotion for her face.  The aveeno one for her face does not seem to bother her, but the I am thinking johnsons might be because on her back and stomach/chest there are some red dry spots, on her back they look like circles. I am not sure if it is an allergic reaction or just the johnsons.  So please tell me what you all use! TIA!!!

  • If the aveeno is working on her face why not just use it on the rest of her?

I can do that, but I am asking for body washes and shampoos too.

  • My LO has the same spots, he gets them when we go swimming in the pool and from scented baby washes and lotions. I'd try anything that's fragrance free or for sensitive skin. California Baby has some good products and Aveeno does too.

  • Aveeno makes baby wash. I've seen it in several stores. If you can't find that, anything that is fragrance free should work. I have eczema and LO has a touch of it as well. Her pediatrician recommends anything that is fragrance free.

We have the Aveeno baby wash and have been using it since she was a newborn. So far, so good! It is mild and pretty much unscented (kinda boring) but it also doesn't have the purfumes/dyes that seem to be irritating your babys skin. Overall, I like it and it's not overly pricey.

  • I think the spots are normal, just lotion well. But my pedi said never to use JandJ, now that the FDA suspended them, I know why. They suggest any cetaphil, aquaphor, eucerine washes/shampoos.

I got the Mustela wash at Target when O's skin was getting really dry after his bath and making him itchy. It has worked great and his skin hasn't been as dry and flaky since the switch.

Aveenos makes body wash too. I use all Aveeno for DD. Johnson's made her skin really dry when she was a newborn.

J&J is complete garbage and it boggles my mind that people don't read ingredient labels when it comes to baby products.

And FYI Cetaphil has the same chemicals that J&J has. So does Eucerin. Read the labels!!!
