Petty, mean, admission.

Most of you ladies are familiar with my extreme dislike of my MIL. When people meet my girls and comment on features that my girls may share with her, it makes me want to throat punch them. I don't see any resemblance, in all honesty, Avery is a dead ringer for my FIL. Does anyone experience this? Please tell me I am not alone in my pettiness?

I remember you posting about your SIL. She's a real peach too! Maybe we can send her and MIL camping together. Somewhere with lots of bears maybe?

I get it. DD used to laugh a lot like MIL (who technically isn't even related - she's a SMIL) and I didn't dare tell DH about the similarity because I knew he would go through the roof (he's not a fan of his stepmom). I say go ahead with the throat punch - people will get the hint pretty quickly.

can my MIL go too?  I find myself thinking thoughts like this all the time!  I have to force myself to be nice to her most of the time. 

It's on!! It could be like survivor...only they ALLLLL stay on the damn island. With bears. Please can there be bears?

I love my MIL, but she drives me bananas sometimes. She says things like, "DD is just like me because she ______." Or, "I hope you don't have asthma like grandma does!" She also still calls DD "my" baby....I resist the urge to say something very graphic like, "did you squeeze her out of your vagina? No? Then she's not YOUR baby."

So no, I don't think you're being petty or mean. :-)

I get so irritated when anyone says he is anything like her. Especially when it is like his personality or something. I am constantly checking my smart mouth retorts...

Mil does the same my baby BS. Here's the kicker though I have to work with this lovely lady every freakin damn day. I love my job lol! I would love to throat punch her.

That would really bother me. Actually someone I just met the other day kept going on about how DD looks just like DH. I smiled and nodded but really it was annoying because she looks nothing like him. DD looks just like me but with DH's eyes...that's it. I can't even imagine how annoyed I would be if someone said she looked like someone that I don't like.

My MIL drives me batty, so I totally get this. Fortunately DD has gone from looking just like her daddy - and he looks like his dad, not his mom - to looking more and more like me. Thank goodness. So, you're not alone in feeling petty :P

My MIL does this with DS. She has also called herself mama....bc he looks so much like DH (even though DH had straight white hair & really didn't look a lot like DS). She will mention all the time who she thinks DS looks like in "her" family. She will always say he doesn't look like my family even though he got his curly hair from me and his dimple from my mom. She always says she doesn't know where he got the hair.

We used to get along...I could start a book with all of the "nice" things she has done since I was pregnant with DS. I think part of it is she is angry I won't let her smoke around him or keep him a lot.

This made me chuckle. I don't hate my MIL...she's a wonderful person but she can be a bit too much for me at times. DD kind of resembles her so that irks me a little bit but DD is just so stinking cute I let it pass.

When I was in L&D, the first shift nurse reminded me sooooooooo much of my MIL. Her height, body type, facial expressions, and mannerisms...she could have been my MIL's sister! I was like "oh, why me?!"
