I'm going to toot my own horn here for a second, but it's leading up to a question
Since early January, I have lost 20lbs. I still have about 30lbs to goal weight, but I'm just below my pre-kids weight for the first time in over 3 years.
But now I've kind of hit a wall, mentally. It's a crazy busy time of year for DH at work and our family in general, and I'm having trouble staying motivated. I'm tracking my food and exercise, but am finding myself skipping workouts and reverting back to my old grazing habits. I need a new way to motivate myself. I'm starting Couch to 5K with a friend in a few weeks. I've pulled out clothes that *almost* fit again and have them hung where I see them everyday. I need something else.
So, my question is, how do you stay motivated? What do you do to push yourself through the mental blocks?
Re: How do you stay motivated?
Congratulations mama mema on the 20 lbs. lost, I am currently trying to get on the weight loss/not die for my mud run train!
When I get in ruts I try and find new motivations. Obviously you have mastered the food tracking and exercise; your body and mind seem bored
some suggestions for you:
create a compare and contrast photo book. You 20 lbs. ago; you today; you the next five pounds... it will give you something to make AND see how awesome you have done.
Why do you really want to lose the weight? Whatever reason pick an event that is specific for that (e.g., fit into sexy clothes; volunteer for a black tie charity or find a gallery opening to wear a dress to).
Find different workouts! Zumba, yoga, rock climbing, dance classes, taking the kids to trampoline park (killer workout!)
Have more sex!
This is ridiculous, but I am motivated to get in this giant air ball thing we got Bo! There is a weight limit, and I am 10 lbs shy
I REALLY want to roll around in it!
Good Luck! Let me knwo what you come up with.
That is a pretty awesome reason
Thanks for the ideas. I think I need to switch up the workouts. Zumba interests me, but I am so uncoordinated. Maybe a Zumba video hiding out in my own living room will shake things up
