Napping too much?

My DD is 14 weeks and napping very well. She takes two long naps, between 2 to 4 hours each everyday. The bad part is that she is awake from 4:30 to 9 pm everyday and gets super cranky. She will not nap after 4:30 even though she looks exhausted. Im starting to wonder if I should be keeping her awake longer and keeping her naps shorter during the day. Are your LO napping as much? Any tips on how I can get my DD to nap after 4:30?

Re: Napping too much?

  • My LO is 14 weeks too and she is very hard to get down for a nap past 4. She gets very tired and cranky, but her bedtime is 7:30. Sometimes if I try hard to get her down she will nap, but I always try to make sure she doesnt sleep past 6 in the evening. She typically can still only stay awake for a hour during the day before she need to nap again and she will nap about a hour for her first nap and about three hours for afternoon nap and about a hour for her late afternoon nap. I would maybe try for a earlier bedtime if she wont sleep after 4:30

  • I read this a while ago and it helped tremendously. She takes shorter naps 45 to an hour during the day but is now sttn usually for about 12 straight hours. Occasionally she will wake up once around 5 but after a quick bottle goes back to sleep fo another 4 hrs. Most nights I hear her fuss a couple times and turn her head over the monitor but she goes right back to sleep.
