Spotting at 16 weeks?

I had very minimal spotting last night...only when I wiped and it was the discharge that was brown/light pink. It happened twice last night and nothing else. Called doc and going in tomorrow just to double check all is ok. Of course I'm a nervous wreck... And I haven't felt the baby move at all today which is making it worse!!!!!

Re: Spotting at 16 weeks?

  • Good call on going to the doc, hope they can confirm nothing is wrong and ease your mind. Keep your chin up.

Also, I have yet to feel my baby move, maybe it's because of all the gas bubbles though.

Or maybe an infection too could cause spotting.

No sex recently and no signs of an infection...I just pray all is ok : this little girl is giving me a run for my money and she's not even born yet!!

I have had this happen at two different occassions (once at 9 weeks and once this week). Both times I made an appointment to see my doctor, and both times it turned out to be nothing to worry about.  I'll keep you in my thoughts and prayers. Please provide an update tomorrow.

  • I'm sorry that you're going throught this!  What I can say is that the decreased movement shoudn't worry you.  This early on they still have lazy days where they may just be in there streching and dreaming instead of moving and grooving! I'm glad that your Dr was able to see you so soon. In the mean time, try not to worry, relax, and maybe get off of your feet, some place quiet, and so you can concentrate on feeling baby and sending love her way.

  • I had this happen over the weekend, of course, when the office is closed. It is so scary. My OB on call was not worried at all. Told me light pink discharge spotting can be very normal and to rest all day and push fluids. I haven't felt the baby move at all yet so far ... FTM here ... So I completely get how scary it is! Hope it is cleared up for you and baby is safe and healthy.

  • I had a lot of bleeding at 16w, 5 days. We are talking soaked through my underwear. All was fine! I have no idea what caused it but we went to the ER and to the OB two days later and everything was fine. Keep your chin up and keep us updated :
