So I've gone back to the drawing board with girl names. One of them DH and I like now is Alyssa or Alissa. (I've never seen it spelled with the i, only the y, so this isn't a y-obsession.)
Our last name is Karllssenn. (Not actually spelled that way.)
I think that Alyssa Karllssenn has too much s-sound going on. Thoughts? We also kind of like Jocelyn, but not only does that have the s issue, the lyn rhymes too much with the ending of our last name. Argh.
Re: Does this trip you up?
Agreed, too many Ss for my taste.
Joy?
Alina?

Joy is NMS but I do like Alena (Haven't seen it spelled Alina before). Close to Alaina/Alayna which we also like, but apparently has pronunciation problems.
I like plain old Lena too, but my BSC MIL had a Lena in her family and I don't know if I want to even go there.
This.
Thanks for the opinions. I guess if it doesn't sound funny too most people, I'm probably just overanalyzing.
I agree.
Ditto this.
This.
As in pronounced Carlson? I think Alyssa goes really well with that actually. I also like Alessa (ah-LESS-ah) and for some reason that goes a teensy bit better with your last name to me. Jocelyn is a no though. I've never been a fan of FN/LN or FN/MN (or even MN/LN) combos that have the same ending sounds.
