My kid is sick AGAIN. I kid you not, she's been sick every 2-3 weeks since late September. This happened last year in Kindergarten, too, but it lasted from September-March. Just when I thought "is this ever gonna stop?" it stopped. But now it's going longer into the Spring this year. She seriously gets so many fevers, it's insane. And her doctor says it's 100% normal. Sometimes there's an underlying cause (strep, stomach bug, cold, etc) but sometimes (like I think this time is)... her only symptom is fever (103 this morning). She has a little cough, but I think it's allergies.
I'm so over this. This is her 16th day of school missed, which frustrates me beyond belief. Last year she missed 17 days. I know it's because she's never been around many kids, and her immune system has gone to the crapper since starting school... but now it can end? I'm afraid to check her temperature in 2 weeks.
/end pity party whine.
Does anyone else have a kid that is constantly sick? (FYI, before starting school she seriously had maybe 3 sicknesses in her whole life. Maybe she's catching up?)
Re: Sick again :/
Yes I do. He's 14 months old and has been in daycare since 6 months old. My husband and I have maxed out our sick days because of all the time we have to take off for DS. He's had like four ear infections, numerous colds, coughs, etc. He actually just went to the doctor today for yet another cough/fever.
The only time he is super healthy is about five days after starting antibiotics. Then he has no dripping or coughing...alas, that only lasts for a week or two. Then the next daycare illness takes over...
Do that! You will thank yourself later, and hopefully it helps.
I dread September just because I know it will start all over again. Kids are so ick with their germs in school.
I'm taking her to the doctor this morning. She had a cough from her cold 2 weeks ago, but I didn't think much of it.. her coughs always last a few weeks past the cold. Now the cough has gone backwards and gotten worse + fever, just wanna make sure there's no underlying cause.
I'm hoping this is our last one this school year.
