Black line on the back of LO's top tooth

A couple of weeks ago I noticed a thin black line on the back of G's top front tooth, right a long the gum line. I gave it a thorough brushing then did some research. Most of what I read said it was common so I kind of forgot about it.

I just looked at it again (which is hard since G's mouth snaps shut as soon as I peek in) and it's thicker now.

Has anyone else noticed this on their LO? Any ideas what it might be?

I'm going to make her a dentist appointment. It's going to be traumatic but I guess it's necessary.

  • No advice or ideas here, but I wanted to commend you on being able to see the back of G's teeth. I'm quite certain I have never glimpsed the back of L's top teeth, and that I probably never will!

The first time it was by accident, actually. She was laying on my lap and I was tickling her so her head was thrown back and her mouth was open laughing.

  • I haven't EVER seen then back of Matt's teeth. I barely have time to keep his mouth open to brush them haha

  • Yes, Max has the black lines on his bottom teeth. I can scrape it off but he has a meltdown every time I brush his teeth so I just try to do the best job I can. His pedi said it was nothing to worry about. I haven't scheduled a dentist appointment yet.

That's reassuring. I'll see if she'll let me or H scrape it off. If it comes off I'll probably delay the dentist. I was really really dreading doing that to her.

A few months ago I posted about brushing Bo's teeth because there was a brownish something on the gum line...I think it was Idcofe that questioned if it could be blood? I was able to brush it off (which made his gums blead) and our Pedi was not worried about it at all. He suggested taking Bo to a dentist at age 2.

If G's black is like Bo's brown stuff it will go away and break your heart to think they are teething champions and their poor gums are bleading Sad
