XP: Car Seat for Sweaty Baby?

Yesterday while out and about with my son (12 weeks), he was fussing a lot more than usual in his car seat. I thought he was overtired (which I still think he was), but when we eventually finished errands, I brought him home, and took him out of his car seat (infant seat - britax b-safe) to find that his entire back was covered in sweat (and he had left a nice sweat mark on the car seat as well).

It's not that warm yet here (live in the Boston area), so I'm concerned about what an issue this might be when it actually gets hot. As such, if it's a problem, we may convert him to a convertible seat sooner than planned in an attempt to remedy the situation.

Any convertible seat recommendations for a tall (100th percentile), sweaty baby (he sounds so cute when I describe him that way)?

I don't have advice, but I wanted to say I think sweaty babies are adorable. ;-)

  • My little man has always gotten sweaty in his seat. I take him out and hold him for awhile when possible and make sure that I dress him in light clothes. Even in the winter he would get sweaty if I put a sweatshirt on him in the seat. So he wears a onesie with pants/shorts and socks. I can add a blanket if it gets cold or take off the socks if it gets really warm...which it did the other day when I was visiting family in the Bay Area...80+ degrees!

  • We just started using a convertible carseat a few weeks ago. I wanted one for tall kids too bc DH and I are both tall and DD is 75th percentile. We got the diono radian r120 and I love it. It has a super tall shell and higher weight ranges for rear facing than other seats. It also doesn't have the wings next to her thighs like most convertibles do, so I don't have to lift her up and over to get her in the seat.
