Totally unrelated to babies, but I have a question about laptops. I know literally nothing about computers, and I am trying to buy a personal laptop. I would like something under $1000, and I don't need it to be fancy. Just something for home where I can load and look at pictures and do some work at night if needed.
Essentially I want something with a big screen, semi-portable (can be heavy because I don't intend to leave the house with it, but I want a laptop so I can take it from room to room), reliable, can operate Windows (sorry, I wish I could get a Mac, but work isn't compatible), and that's about it.
Anyone tech savy and have any recommendations of where to start? I am totally overwhelmed by the options.
TIA!
Re: NBR: laptop recs?
That would be SOOOO great if you wouldn't mind!! I was hoping someone out there in Bump land would know something about this! Thank you!
Most of the new laptops would work for based on what you want to use it for. They are pretty good now. I like to play games, so I looked for a good graphics card.
The very minimum requirements I would go with are: 4GB DDR3 memory (make sure it's DDR3 and not DDR2. DDR2 is the older version), 320GB Hard Drive (the more GB, the more storage space- they even make a TB now which is 1024GB!), and a Duo-Core Processor (Faster than a Single Core). You might want to get one with built-in wireless (internet connection) as well.
For brand, check out Asus. They are the makers of a lot of the computer parts and just started making their own laptops not too long ago as well, so they are good and a decent price (DH got one with these specs for $400 or $500).
That's about the extent of my knowledge, hope it helps some!
