First Grader Comment

I work in a school. The kids have been making more "look, you're pregnant" comments lately, but this one caught me off guard. Today, a first grader asked me if I was having a white baby or a black baby. I asked her to repeat that 3 times, because I was sure I heard wrong.

I told her that my baby will probably look a lot like me. I'm still not quite sure of the best way to answer that one.

    I think that you handled it appropriately. Kids say some of the craziest things, and it's a shame what they are exposed to sometimes. I had a pre-schooler ask me what she should do when her mom overdoses on drugs.

    What?!?! Why does a pre-schooler know what drugs or OD'ing even is? Crazy! But I agree, you handled it well.
