Annoyed with BFF- rant

so my BF is getting married in March. I am a big girl and the other 4 bridesmaids are pretty thin. We are all over 30 and 3 of us will have children by the time the wedding rolls around. I will be 3-4 months postpartum.

the dresses she has picked are taffeta, and short (above the knee) and although she gave us three style choices none would flatter a full figure. One has ruffles on the chest, on has a giant bow on the butt and the third is strapless. WTH?

I want to be supportive of her day, and I will in the end do whatever she wants me to, but she sent me the info and then ask me what I think. i think all the choices are awful, for me personally and for the party in general . I know she really really wants me in the wedding party but I am having a hard time with the idea of being in a dress that will be so unflattering and uncomfortable for me.

This is my first close friend that has gotten married so I'm not sure what the protocol is as to how to react.

  • Do you know who the designer is? If so, I would pick out a few styles in the same color and material and show them to her nicely and explain that you don't feel comfortable in what she picked out. Yes its her day, but that doesn't mean you have to look bad to make her happy.

I think that's just part of being a bridesmaid, you wear whatever the bride says to. Sucks that it is unflattering. Hugs!!

I really like this suggestion and stress that you will have just had a baby and won't be super comfortable in your own skin. If she's a good friend She will understand.
