XP from Dec 13 - Normal ultrasound?

in 1st Trimester

I posted earlier today about my first u/s that I had today. I was charting and thought I should be about 6w3d based on O date. At the u/s, they saw a gestational sac and a yolk sac and the yolk sac measured 5w6d.

So first, is it okay that I am off 4 days even though I know my O date? Does this seem like things just happened a smidge later than I thought and things are going to be okay?

I don't even really know what is normal for an u/s at 5w6d, since that wasn't what I was expecting. I'm just worried now that things aren't going well. I've had a miscarriage before but it was very obvious and this is just confusing me. I can't decide whether to hold out hope or not.

Any experiences or expertise would be appreciated. Thanks ladies.

    I think everything will be fine. When I first learned I was pregnant, they guesstimated I was approx. 8 weeks based on my last period. In reality, I was 4 weeks. I had an u/s done at 5wk/1 day. We didn't see anything until I was 5 wk/4 days and even then it was just the gestational sac. We didn't see baby until over 6 weeks. My T&P are with you that everything will turn out fine. Good luck!

    I was charting and still measured a week off (I was measuring ahead though)
    This early on, it is easy to be off by a little bit when measuring. Don't start freaking out unless and until you need to.

    Maybe baby implanted late? I don't know that 4 days is that big a deal. My understanding is that anything less than a week is relatively normal.

    I had IUI so the conception date was not even a question, but I was still off on my early ultrasounds. As PPs said, you could have implanted late. It is also extremely possible that the ultrasound is off. My OB said that when they are that tiny it is extremely easy to be off by as much as 5 days. 4 days is a matter of a few millimeters, nothing to freak out about. My baby measured as much as 5 days small at one point, but at the 11 week appointment he/she was actually a day ahead. I say hold out hope, you saw a gestational sac and yolk sac. Are you doing a repeat in a week or so to check for a heartbeat?

    With DD I was told that they wouldn't even change my due date with any growth measurement differences under a week. So that means it matters, but not a ton. Try to take a deep breath and relax.
