First appointment...maybe high risk?

Had my first OB appt today. I love my OB and she is being very thorough. My last pregnancy I had preterm labor starting at 31.5 weeks, was in the hospital, got steroid injections, etc. etc. DS ended up coming at 37 weeks and was over 7lbs (no GDM diagnosed)!

So I guess I didn't think much about what would be different this time. I will get an early glucose screen with my early labs next week, and again at 28 weeks. I also am hypothyroid and on meds, so I will get that checked pretty frequently.  And she is having me go to a MFM consult to see whether I will need P17 injections starting at 17 weeks and/or more frequent u/s monitoring to check cervical length.

I told DH all this and he was like, whoa! This one is going to be completely different! But I'm glad she is being very proactive! Guess I might be telling work a little earlier this time :)

Good luck!  Hopefully all the watching will pay off (or be unnecessary!).  Ask you ob about fish oil.  There is some research that indicates a possible relationship between taking fish oil supplements and decreased risk of preterm labor.
