Re: TTC @ 35

  • I got married at 36 and we got pregnant right away.  That pregnancy sadly ended in a miscarriage but then I got pregnant right away again with my DD who is now 14 months old.  It took us some time the second go round for this baby but I was nursing and my hormones were way supressed and it took quite a while for them to bounce back.

My advice would be if you aren't already start charting (BBT) and using some kind of ovulation prediction sticks (I was lucky enough to inherit a Clear Blue easy monitor and got the sticks from COSTCO cause they were WAY cheaper).  That was how I was able to ensure I was really ovulating by both the + OPK and also seeing the thermal shift on my charts.

    Good Luck!!!!

  • I got pregnant at 41 after TTC for about 2 years. I had been using a cycle tracking app, but then I started taking an herbal Fertility Prep tincture and got pregnant after 2 bottles. Good luck with your conception and remember to have fun practicing I know it can become a chore.

  • I just charted my BBT. I also have a clear blue easy digital OPK. I will check out Costco and get the refill sticks. Thanks for the advice.

  • I'm 36 and I got pregnant in the 3rd month of trying. The first two months we focused on hitting the ovulation window using ovulation calculators and OPKs but my cycle is so irregular. So the third month our strategy was sex every other day the whole month and bingo, BFP. I also started tracking BBT using Fertility Friend at the end of the third month, but little did we know we were already expecting.

If I had it to do over I would have started tracking BBT on FF right away. At the time it seemed excessive but I don't feel that way now.

  • I am 36 started ttc after my iud removal in August and got pg in February. We weren't charting or anything. So excited!! Good luck to you!!
  • Charting worked for me. I suffered both a blighted ovum and then an early miscarriage last year and it took awhile to get my body back on track, so technically I wasn't able to start trying until December. I started charting the end of February and got pregnant in March. I used Fertility Friend to chart and the cheap Target OPKs to identify my fertile days.

  • I have to laugh at your being impatient after only 3-4 months. I thought I was going to get pregnant right away-- all the women in our family are super fertile-- but nope! I'm 38. It took us 14 months to conceive this baby and we had a loss three months before this one "stuck."

Charting is great. OPKs are great (I never spent the money on the expensive ones, which is good, since it took us so long). Try to keep it fun, but definitely get to know your body. I used Pre-Seed because I apparently no longer produce much cervical mucus and MH and I pretty much had marathon BDing sessions from the day AF stopped until 3 days post ovulation.

    Good luck!

  • We started trying when I was almost 37, (from July and my BD is Sept), it took us two cycles. I used to think that it would take a long time, I had just started taking prenatal, and in my head by the time we get a bfp, it would be at least 6 or 7 months that I was taking the prenatals.

ETA: my advice is don't make it stressful, my dr also recommended that after having sex, lay down for at least 20 min.

  • We started in October when I was 36 and I got pregnant the first try.  Unfortunately, that pregnancy ended in a miscarriage.  We started trying in earnest in February and I got my BFP today.   I really don't have any advice that's any better than PP.  The only thing I really did different the last few months was track my ovulation using an online calculator and I know those aren't very reliable.  I hope you get wonderful news very soon!!

  • I'm 35 and pregnant with my first, took over 3 yrs. we had just started to investigate ivf, had a couple of initial tests which didn't show anything, so next step was for me to have an op. this was just before Xmas so we left it for a bit, then by February we just both felt like maybe having kids just wasn't going to be us. We decided to leave it a yr, 6month then see how we felt. Next month I got pregnant! They do say stress has a lot to do with it.
