Pregnant after 35

Broke down and bought a doppler

I couldn't take it any more. The worry of not seeing my kiddos for two and a half weeks finally wore me down. I figured the risk of using one was outweighed by all the worry. I borrowed a doppler from a friend tonight since mine won't arrive until Tuesday.

Anyway, I checked on them tonight and was able to quickly find two beautiful heartbeats! Phew. So relieved. Now I can peacefully wait until my u/s on Wednesday. Hope everyone has a great weekend!

  • I don't blame you. I got one at about 10 weeks and used it a ton in the beginning until I could feel movement. It definitely helps when you need reassurance things are ok.

  • I bought one too around 10 weeks. Definitely worth the peace of mind. Plus I can tell my nurse where to look if she doesn't know where to start!

  • I never thought about ever getting one with my previous pregnancies, but after reading on here everybody's stories about them...I want one!!!!!!
  • I got one at 10 weeks and am so glad I have had it! I try to only use it once or twice a week and will likely not use it often at all once I am steadily feeling movement. But with the incidents of spotting I had from 10-13 weeks, it came in handy to be able to check in and hear that beautiful heartbeat! Best $50 I ever spent.
  • I want to get one so bad. After we had a m/c last year it will give me some peace of mind this time around. What brand is good and where do you get it?

I bought the Sonoline B off of eBay.  It's also available on Amazon, but is more expensive.  I love the peace of mind it can provide.  I had some mild cramping yesterday, so this morning I was worried when I couldn't feel the baby fluttering.  I pulled out the doppler, heard the heart beat and kicking, and now I'm completely relaxed.

Sonoline B is FDA approved.  And my OB said dopplers are safe, as long as you don't use it for long periods of time.  If you do, the doppler waves eventually can produce heat which isn't good for baby.

  • I rented dopplers for my last 3 pregnancies.  I LOVED having them!  So worth it for the peace of mind.
