My c/s was unplanned, but I don't think you would really need a kit. I would probably try to have: ibuprofen, pads, tucks pads, a sitz bath (you don't have to have one, but I know of a lot of people who swear by them), stool softeners and comfy clothes. That's all I can think of. GL with your c/s!

I didn't know they made kits - do you have a link? I'm just curious as to what's in it.

My c/s was unplanned, so I didn't have anything special, and I didn't need anything special, when I went home.

Comfy clothes -- as the other gal wrote -- is a must. Look for panties that won't be tight around the incision area (in my case, I wore "granny panties" for a few weeks.) I also wore sweat pants that I could tie at the waist so I could choose how tight to wear them.

All the other suggestions are excellent.

A nightgown or two would have been divine. Also, looser-fitting pj pants than I wore in pregnancy. Like PP said... I, too, thought I'd be smaller. Those IV fluids really plump you up!

Yes, if you think you could fit 2 of yourself in the panties, they're the perfect size! And big pants too, or nightgowns. My pants were too right too, so I just wore a nursing tank and the granny panties for probably 2 weeks.

It looks like the main thing they're selling is a binder, which you can get lots of places. That would be the only thing I'd add to the list above.

The thing I did that helped the most, and I can't believe I was smart enough to think of this... I had a scheduled c-section since DS was breech.  I started eating prunes and tons of fruit a couple of days before the surgery.  As soon as I was allowed after the surgery I mixed prune juice and apple juice (it made it a little more tolerable) and drank that like crazy.  I also ate lots of fruit.  Between that and the stool softeners, it made my first poo not so bad.

I was going to say prune juice and gas-x. The thing that hurt me the most after surgery was the gas pains and the only thing that helped was prune juice.. yuck! My MIL also bought me nursing night gowns which I wore a lot.  Also, my doctor ordered me a binder from the hospital, so you might want to see if they have one there before going out to buy one.

I used the abdominal binder from that site and LOVED it.

I read a lot about the c-panty which has a silicone panel to help healing. Mederma also came up as something that you can use but I figured it is going to be pretty painful initially and went w. buying a ton of loose granny panties and sweats :)

My C-section was unplanned.  I found after it was most comfy to wear my maternity clothes 9I still do at 7 weeks).  Since they go so high up on the belly they have no seam right at the incision.  As well, they are nice and loose without the belly in them but have just enough stretch to still stay up.

I fit in my pre-pregnancy clothes and wear them a bit but the pregnancy pants and panties are most comfy.
