Telling MIL

We decided that if everything looks good at the NT Scan we will tell my MIL on Thursday. She's been pretty crummy through all of my pregnancies (I have 1 son, but this is my 5th pregnancy) and never been supportive or excited when we are pregnant. DH didn't even want to tell her and just let her figure it out for herself but DS' birthday party is this weekend and she is the only person who does not know.

So on Thursday after the scan we're going to call her and tell her we're expecting twins. After the melt down we'll let her know it's really just one.

She's not going to be happy either way so we should at least get to have some fun, right?!Devil

    It's too bad that your MIL has not been supportive in the past. It's probably more about her than you guys. And while I certainly understand the impulse to play a little trick on her by telling her you're having twins, it does seem a little manipulative. Maybe that could further strain your relationship? Why not just let your husband share the news and keep it to the facts? I'm also so, so sorry that you've gone through so many losses. That will really wear you down!

    Yes, she is the one who posted the pictures of my son in the hospital on FB and has referred to him as "flop head" (He has CP, not great neck control but he's learning).

    I told my SIL (who she is also not that nice to) and she requested that we tell her over speaker phone so she can join in the fun. Big Smile

    TTC since May 2011 "Natural" BFP 1/2/2012 with cp 1/5/2012 5/2012: SA and CD 3 bloodwork perfect 6/2012: Clomid + Trigger + TI = BFN 8/2012: HSG all clear.
