Parenting after a Loss

Baby aspirin therapy?

Has anyone had any issues when they have been told to take a baby aspirin a day during their pregnancy because of a clotting disorder?  I'm really nervous about it, having Dr. Googled it last night...

Re: Baby aspirin therapy?

  • I only tested positive for one marker which is somewhat normal. It is typically only an issue when you have two markers. However, my doctor still prescribed a daily baby aspirin. I took it until 36 weeks and my son and I did not have any issues. I'm not sure if I will be on it again with my next pregnancy. I think after three consecutive losses it was more like well it can't hurt. I would discuss your concerns with your doc to see why they are recommending it. GL!

  • I took one my entire pregnancy with M, no issues with the aspirin. I tested positive for one MTHFR mutation & my cardiolipin antibody was in the undefined area, not normal but not abnormal.

With this pregnancy my heartburn & indegestion has been out of control, so my doc took me off at 20 weeks.

  • My RE was not a fan of it unless their was a diagnosed reason to take it. One of my clotting proteins was in a grey area and she still didn't want me on it. No issues without it

  • I've been taking it since my 2nd loss.  I have MTHFR, but the common one so it is more a precaution.  But my OB said there are so many benefits that I should just take it every day for my life.  The only way he would ask me to stop is if I had a scheduled c-section.

  • I am Homozygous for MTFHR so my OB had me start taking it when I was TTC my DD and told me to stop taking it at 38 weeks, I ended up stopping a few days sooner when we decided I'd be induced at 38w2d just to avoid too much extra bleeding. He also told me that I should start taking it again when I find out I am pregnant again, but I figure between EBF and PCOS I won't likely be getting any surprise BFPs so I may start taking it again when we start actively trying again (and by that I mean going down the Clomid road again).

I've been taking it daily since my RPL testing, almost two years now. Not only do I believe it helped with DD, but it also helps me, since I have a long family history of heart disease and hypertension. Oh, and I did come off of it sometime in 2nd tri and then go back on right after DD's birth, but I'll be on it the whole time now, in an effort to prevent the preE and E I developed last time.

  • I took it along with my Lovenox during my pregnancies and still take BA daily due to the clotting issues I have.
