My little man is going to be 2 in exactly one month. For a long time we have been dealing with him throwing his bowls and plates on the floor when he is finished with his food. We are at a complete loss as to how to curb this. Any ideas?
If he throws a utensil, he loses it. If he throws food, the meal is over. If he is finished, we just have to be really quick about taking the plate, fork, and food out of his reach. We also tell him a million times a day to "use your words, tell mommy when you're done with your meal". Also, if he throws something, he has to clean it up.
He sits at the table so I think that would get a little gross. Not a bad idea, though.
The company Summer makes mats that suction to the table. Might be an idea. Our DD never had a high chair, just sat in the Tripp Trapp chair with us and that's what we used.

This is exactly what we do too. Our challenge comes at dinner time when we all eat at the table. He must stay at the table until everyone is done eating, so when he throws things we just remove his items from in front of him and make him wait until everyone is done. It's gotten remarkably better in the last month or so. There is a light at the end of the tunnel...

This. All of it exactly.
Agreed! we also did this.... When we transitioned out of the high chair to the "big girl chair" at the table, I Had told her if she throws her food we have to go back to the high chair no forks no plates. The next time she did it. I pulled out of the big girl chair and put her in the high chair. SHe hated it. Next meal I pulled out the high chair she's NO mommy no!!! We had a chat about manners and that was the end of it. Like any learning experience we have had a few set backs but she's been good about. Now we have to start working on not feeding the dog under the table...lol
Re: Throwing dishes at mealtime
