I think I'm right at 5 weeks, and every afternoon, from around 11 til about 4, I am so exhausted I can hardly move. It's miserable. I won't drive then because I'm seriously afraid of falling asleep behind the wheel. If I sit down for more than a minute or two, it's all I can do to stay awake. How does anyone get anything done during the 1st trimester?? Or is this not normal?

Re: How do you deal with this exhaustion?
I take a nap.... from about 11-2 and then am fine latter although I only work part time and in the evenings... so that wont work for most people....
Yes, normal. Your 1st trimester is crucial and you really need to listen to your body. Rest when you need to and don't feel guilty. More than likely you will get your energy back by your 2nd trimester. Don't force yourself to "get up and go" if you are experiencing fatigue. Good luck and congrats
Most women do get their energy back by 2nd trimester. It may have been almost 10 years since the last time I was pregnant (before this pregnancy) but I can remember waking up at night (during my 2nd tri) with bursts of energy..wanting to walk around and clean. Wait until you hit the nesting stage! You will be zoom zoom zooming around cleaning and readying your house for baby. Your energy will be a nice change..before you go back to being tired when you hit your 3rd tri, hehe
I started feeling really tired about a week ago and that is actually what prompted me to test a couple days early. I haven't completely cut out coffee so that helps. But I am only having one cup in the morning and by mid day I am really tired. Today I did a run at lunch and that seemed to perk me up a little and now at almost five I am dragging.
Haha well in that case I can't wait for the 2nd trimester! I have been slacking on housework and everything lately and I feel guilty because of it! I just want SO to at least come home from work to a clean house and dinner but the past couple nights I just said F it and laid on the couch haha! Tired in the 1st trimester, energetic in the 2nd and tired again in the 3rd...what a roller coaster ride! But it'll all be worth it in the end :-)

I nap while my kiddo naps (when she cooperates!) and let everything else slide. I let H take care of more stuff around the house than usual. I let him get up with the kid in the morning and sleep in for an extra 15 minutes.
It's hard for sure and I am barely making it even with all the extra rest! Just know that the 2nd tri will be better.
