blister-like spot on LO's labia

C goes from no diaper rash to blister like spots on her labia. There's nothing in between. Has anyone else seen this?

Its seems to bother her when I wipe her so I use a warm washcloth and I let her air out this morning for 30 min before putting her diaper back on.

Ive been trying Desitin, Butt Cream, Aquafor and Baby's Botton Angel care.

We use pamper's swaddlers but thinking of switching to cloth...

Re: blister-like spot on LO's labia

  • I second the pedi suggestion.  It could be a little pinch-blister from her diaper, or it could be something funky.
  • Loading the player...
  • call is in with the pedi, waiting for a call back.
  • so what diapers do you rec?

I've heard of pampers swaddlers "burning" some babies' skin. I have no idea if that's true or not but it's worth switching brands to see.

And I agree with letting your pedi look at it. Poor baby.

It's totally true! Happened to DD1 when she was in diapers. Reason #1 why I am now anti-Pampers.

    Yea, go to pedi.

Pampers Swaddlers gave us issues, too. We switched to Huggies initially. Now, DH has ordered a bunch of those Honest diapers.  They are working great.

Oh, we also switched to alcohol free wipes. But we were still had issues until we ditched the Pampers. So I don't think it was just the wipes.

  • You might try plain ole' Vaseline as well. Doc told us even for diaper rashes that was the best thing to use. It keeps the moisture off and is easily wiped off. Z got like a raw spot on his bum from using the wash cloths in the hospital when we brought him home and the Vaseline helped it to heal where the other stuff wasn't. Doc said never use Desitin and to either do Vaseline or A&D. The Desitin has to be really wiped off which can irritate the rash more.

  • Totally random, but it sounds like the blisters aren't consistent.

A friend of mine had a LO that used to get blisters from time to time. Eventually got referred to a dermatologist who did a biopsy (it went on for several months before hand). They determined LO had psoriasis. And it was aggravated by mom consuming citrus. So when she ate/drank citrus then BF baby,... You get the pic. The mom had to avoid citrus til LO no longer nursed.

Like I said, totally random thought, but it's a thought, right?

  • the pedi didnt seem concerned, she said to continue with the cream that works best for us and to let her air dry as much as possible.  Use warm compresses and no wipes till it clears.

She didnt say anything about the brand of dipes.

Im going to try vaseline next.

     Thanks for all the suggestions!
