Where does your LO eat?

Still in the high chair?  Booster seat?  Their own table/chair?

Also, does your family eat meals together?

Re: Where does your LO eat?

  • DD sits at the table in a regular chair, but I put a towel under her to protect my chair fabric. And yes, we all sit at the table together and eat.

  • We moved Emma to a booster seat around her 2nd birthday, she's short so we waited a bit. She hasn't used her high chair at all in awhile. We try to eat all together, but my husband typically works late, so it's just the 2 of us.

  • Chloe sits on a foam booster seat at the table.  We used the space saver chair before that and had stopped using the tray around 12 months, so she's been at the table eating with us for a while.

We eat 99% of our meals together.  Everybody who is home when it's a meal time eats at the same time.

  • DS is in a booster seat; we never used a high chair, the booster we have has a tray that he used when he was smaller. We eat most meals together at the table, except for some lazy Friday nights when we order in and eat in front of the TV.

  • Booster seat at the table. We usually only eat together on weekends.
  • He is in a booster at the table. We usually eat all together, though sometimes I don't eat snack with them, I just sit at the table with them.
  • We all eat dinner together at the table. DD1 sits in a normal chair; DD2 sits in a booster. With both of them we stopped using the highchair around 14-15 months. The girls usually eat breakfast and lunch at our kitchen island bar. They both sit on high backed bar stools. I use a tie-chair for DD2 - basically a long piece of cloth that I can use to tie her to the stool.

  • Both of my girls moved to a booster seat at the table around 17-18 months. DD1 could probably be in just a regular chair, but she likes the booster seat so we'll keep it for a while.

We eat dinner as a family every night, with the very rare exception of a night DH can't be home in time. In that case I eat with the girls and he eats later. Breakfast and lunch is just me and the girls during the week, usually all four of us on the weekends.

  • DD is 2 and she sits in the prince lion heart booster seat.  She went from the space saver to the booster at around 20 months.  I can't say it's been easy.  Sometimes I want to put her back in the HC, but we've come this far.  My biggest pet peeve is that she takes her fork and digs it into the table.  We've had a hard time getting her to use her utensils properly.

  • She sits in a high chair but without the tray she is pushed right up to the table. When she is home with DH in the morning she eats her breakfast at her little kids table. On weekends though and in the evening we eat together all at the kitchen table.

  • He sits in a booster. We eat dinner as a family every night, and lunch & dinner together on the weekends.
  • DS is almost three and still sits in the booster seat.  We tried no booster, but he's still a little short.  We almost always eat dinner together, but we only eat breakfast and lunch together on weekends.

  • In a regular chair or on a stool at the counter (the stool has a back). She stopped using her high chair at around 18 months - but she's got 2 big sisters. Her older sisters were in the high chair until a while after 2.

  • DD was in the FP healthy booster starting at 7 months. We switched her to the IKEA junior chair a year ago when she turned 2. She couldn't eat at our table without the tray because we couldn't scoot her under the table. The junior chair is a normal chair but higher so she can reach. She loves it.

We eat together as a family most nights, I would say at least 5 nights a week.

  • We have an Oxotot booster at our dining table and he has a small Ikea Kritter table and chair set. Breakfast is more grab and go usually because we are always in a bit of a hurry so he eats and plays while I get us ready (cereal, homemade granola bar, fruit, milk, etc.) and then dinner we eat together. My DH is gone for a year so most of the time its just me and DS. This means I usually sit at his table with him but if friends come over or DH is home, we all eat at the dining table.

  • DD (3) eats at the table, DS eats at the table in a booster seat.  Both kids gave up the high chair around 12 months.  We eat as a family on the weekends but it is only the kids and I on the weekdays because the kids cannot wait long enough for DH to get home and eat with us.

We generally all eat together. Our son sits in a regular chair and our daughter is still in a high chair.

  • High chairs that are pulled up to the table and we eat most of our meals together.  They are 2.5 years and the only reason they are still in high chairs is because we eat on our island in the kitchen and the chairs are the high stool kind and we couldn't get a booster on them.
  • DD1 sits in a booster chair at the table.  We moved her just before her 2nd birthday (3 months ago) but are still struggling with table manners.  DD2 (8 months) is in the highchair.

  • We keep her high chair in the breakfast nook in the kitchen (which only has 2 chairs), so if we're eating in the kitchen, she sits in her high chair.  If we're eating in the dining room, she sits in a booster seat at the table with us.

We do eat meals together, when we're all home.  DH works 3 evenings/week, so DD and I eat together when DH is working.

  • He sits in a booster at the table. We always eat dinner together, but breakfast or lunch are usually solo meals. He eats his while I sit at the table with him, and I eat mine later when he's playing or down for a nap.

  • We eat dinner together almost every day, aside from one to two days a week when daddy doesn't eat with us, and one day every other week when I don't eat with them (due to various obligations).  I always eat lunch with her, and usually breakfast, though that's a little more snack-like, unless it's the weekend, when we all eat breakfast together.  I think family meal times are very important.

She sits at the table in her own chair.  She was in a high chair until 14-16months or so,  a booster seat on a chair until 18mo(?), and then a regular chair (kneeling at first, now usually sitting).

  • We have a high chair that turns into a booster and still use the tray for clean up convenience.  We eat together.  He can sit in a regular chair at daycare and when we go out/other people's houses.  The high chair is just easier at home.

  • We always eat as a family at the kitchen table. DS sits fine in a regular chair and DD who is 2.5 sits in a booster seat

  • DD is 2.5 and still in a high chair, she still makes giant messes so high chair is easier for me.

We usually don't eat dinner together, DD eats while i heat up food for myself and DH likes his own food, not the most ideal situation but i fly into the house after work at 6 and no time for fancy dinners. We are also trying to wean her off watching cartoons while eating, we started that bad habbit when she started eating bad and can't break it.

  • We usually eat at the table together, DS sits, kneels or stands in his chair and eats, when we are done we sit with him while he finishes or I do while dh puts away dishes. At some point when we are done ds will get down and take his plate to the side table and finish it up during the evening. We always leave his plate out for him to pick at after dinner unless he eats it all before

  • DD still sits in a high chair, but I think she's ready for a booster chair.  We do sit together and eat on weekends.

During the week we try to.  I usually always eat with her.  DH works a bit too late sometimes.  She goes to bed at 7.

  • We all eat dinner together and whichever one of us is home at the time eats breakfast/lunch with him.

He's still in a high chair. We tried removing the tray and scooting him up to the table in January and it was a mess. We'll try it again soon though.

This basically sums us up too and we're trying to change it.  Grandparents watch her during the daytime and all 3 feed her differently - there is zero consistency.  She always eats breakfast in her high chair/space saver but that's about the only consistency there is.  DD has always been a picky eater and the only way I could get her to eat dinner was to eat in the living room - she stands at the coffee table and watches her shows (Mickey Mouse, Sofia, etc.) and eats at the same time.  She can't 100% feed herself - I need to be there so there's no way I can eat at the same exact time.  While she's eating, my & DH's dinner is heating up or he is making it.  I definitely want to break this routine!

    Thanks everyone!

Booster seat. We eat dinner together at the table whenever H is home. He misses 2 to 4 dinners each week, though. When it's just her and I, we eat at the table probably half the time.

Lunch is always at the table for her; I either sit with her or I'm in the room doing stuff. I eat lunch when she naps. We eat breakfast in the living/family room.
