DD understand how to drink from a sippy, but she doesn't understand how to hold it and tip it up by herself...she will only drink out of it if we hold it. Any suggestions on teaching her how to hold and tip it back for herself?
She picks it up and swings it around and will chew on it herself, but only drink if we hold it up for her. So far, she is only getting water in the sippy.
Re: Sippy cup advice/help wanted.
Hi! I'm new to this board but wanted to reply since I am going through this myself with my 11-month-old.
A little about me: DH and I have been married for almost 3 years. We had DD in May 2012 (she just turned 11-months yesterday), and we have a cute, little doggie. In a couple of months we will be TFAS.
So the sippy cup... We noticed the same exact thing happening with DD. One thing we tried was limiting the amount of water we put in it. We thought the cup might be too heavy for her to tilt back by herself. So I only fill up the cup with about an inch of water. This actually seemed to work pretty well.
The other thing I tried was demonstrating to her how to drink out of it. I literally took her cup, tilted it up, and drank out of it. That seemed to work too because when I handed it back to her she imitated me.
My challenge now is to begin taking her off the bottle completely and only giving her a sippy cup for her formula. She's going in to daycare in August and will be expected to drink exclusively from a sippy cup by then.
Hope some of this helps!

Did you know they make kids/baby camelbak cups? Same is the adult ones but smaller? dS1 loved those!
