We are naming our baby Isla if it is a girl, but I feel like I'm hearing it everywhere all of a sudden.

Do you know any Isla's IRL?

When we were expecting DS (we didn't know the sex) we were going to name him Isla if he was a girl. I was starting to have hesitations because I was hearing it everywhere...but now, I don't. It's still the top runner if we have another & it's a girl. I think it's not a common name, but not so uncommon people side eye it.

I have never met an Isla. That being said, I don't meet a ton of babies these days...but last year when I worked in a daycare setting there were no Islas either.

It was my great grandmother's name and I also have a 16yo cousin with this name. I love it and wanted to use it if we were having a girl!

DDs name is Isla. We haven't met another one yet, but I have met a ton of Lila's, which obviously sounds similar.

Yes I know a 2 yr old with the name, her mom mentioned it gets mispronounced as Ees la frequently.

I love the name Isla, but I also think it would be frequently mispronounced. I first heard of it with the actress Isla Fischer.

I don't actually know any IRL but I also don't think of it as an uncommon name. I love the name and brought it up for DD but DH vetoed it, even though he liked it, because he thought people wouldn't say it right.

I think it probably will be mispronounced often when it's read, but hopefully not every time. I just keep hearing mention of it lately it seems but I don't personally know any IRL myself.

As for Isla, my friend named her first daughter that. It's very pretty, but there are definitely people who still don't know how to pronounce it. There isn't really another way to spell it either. I suppose Eila would be more phonetic, but that just looks funny. Which is weird, because Eileen doesn't look strange.
