I read your Monday moan about bed bugs. I am sorry- they are horrible! My sister's apartment became infested with them when she lived in NYC. It was the woman next door who had moved in and brought them along. 
My sister did have to pay for the exterminator I believe. But the building investigated all the apartments next to her, above and below. I know you said the building was giving you trouble. Fight them on this and make sure they check all the surrounding apartments or even better have a bed bug specialist do so. Even if you exterminate your place if they are next door they will come back. I am thinking that your building has some legal obligations to do this but you may want to check this out.
Unfortunately my sister had to throw out some of her furniture and bed. She washed all of her clothes and stored them in plastic bags while this was going on. It was a big pain for her.
I just wanted to let you know her experience in getting the building to check surrounding apartments. Good luck getting rid of these pesky things!

    Thanks ladies! My landlord in OOT until tomorrow, but ill be in his office as soon as it opens. We've wrapped the mattress and gotten everything bagged up in heavy trash bags. M didn't get bitten last night, so that's already an improvement. 

     

    I just feel like a bad mom for letting this happen to M. We searched forever before we rented this place. It's a town home and we fell in love with it. We even discussed bedbugs and spraying before we moved in and he said he would spray before we moved in and get everything in order. I know it wasn't us because we brought in all new furniture. Even though we didn't bring them in, it still makes me feel dirty and disgusting.
