Is it too early?

I'm 11 weeks and feeling what feels like flutters, but I don't know if it's gas or baby. I'm guessing gas, and this is all just wishful thinking. Still, I've been sitting here for 30 minutes and the flutters are coming and going, and I've never felt like type before. Thoughts? Facts?

  • It seems early to me, especially if it's your first, but anything is possible. With my first, it felt like flutters at first too. I wasn't sure it was the baby at first. Soon enough you will know for sure.

  • Have you had an ultrasound yet? I started feeling my 'baby' moving at 10w5d and I knew just knew it was the baby, every one kept saying gas or it's all in your head. at 13 weeks I got an ultrasound and it said twins and when I went to the doctor he told me that sometimes with twins you can feel movement as early as 10 weeks.

Not to try and jinks you but if you think it isn't gas it could be a possibility.

  • If you think you're feeling flutters, you just may be!  I'm 10w with baby #4 and am feeling flutters.  I've asked my family members who have had more than 1 child and they felt movement earlier with each pregnancy!  Keep track of the time when you think you feel things, especially if you've recently eaten or drank anything and talk to your doctor at your next appt and maybe he/she can help figure out if it's movement or gas.

Another vote for gas too. Your baby is about the size of a lime and according to the bump fruit calendar, baby is only 1.6 inches big so I doubt you are feeling that.
I don't know about anyone else, but I think if I had a "lime" in my uterus, I would feel some flutters going on. With my first, I felt definite movement about 14-16 weeks. Everyone feels different things. You may or may not be feeling baby. You can only be sure when those "flutters" turn to full-blown kicks and rolls. Now that's awesome!!!

  • I am going to say gas too. I know with my DS I felt him between 14-16 weeks. I mean anything is possible but I would say that gas is more likely.

  • It's gas. After you have the baby, you'll feel the same thing and realize that you just never noticed it before, I promise. You're just more aware of everything now.

The baby is still so tiny and the bones haven't even come close to hardening yet, and he or she doesn't have enough muscle tone to make the movements felt.

You can certainly tell yourself whatever you want, but it's gas. No question.
