Cervix Check

Yesterday's appointment went well. I'm at 39 weeks and had some consistent contractions Sunday. Dr. checked my cervix and said something about being forward and not trapped behind baby's head? What does this mean? I was so uncomfy during the check that I didn't think to ask.
No dilation or anything, but softer and forward - I'm assuming it means little toward labor but wondered what he meant. Thanks!

    Maybe call the OB office back today and just ask what the doc meant by that..then you know for sure.  I haven't heard of this before...sorry I couldn't be of more help!

    I'd call them and ask. There is no way we could know what the person was talking about.

    Your cervix can be posterior or anterior, meaning facing the back or facing the front, respectively. When in labor or preparation for it, it moves from being posterior to being anterior. It's just like dilation and effacement ? it could mean progress, it could mean nothing.
