Sleep paralysis?

Does anyone suffer with this and if so what do you do, what are your experiences, do you have any recommendations or suggestions and also what does your doctor think?

I have it sometimes and my doctor doesn't seem too concern. She just tells me to get plenty of rest. I hate it. It's scary and it completely sucks!

Re: Sleep paralysis?

  • I do!  I have had it for many years!  Normally I am awake enough to hear what is going on in the room but can't wake up or move. Sometimes I gave bad "dreams" where I feel like someone (an intruder or something) is in the room and I need to get up but can't.

I have found that it happens either when I sleep too much, am in light sleep or if I am stressed (used to happen a lot when I was getting my masters and writing my thesis).  So here is what has helped me:  I don't nap often during the day (this would be a common time for this to occur), and if I do I nap on the couch only for 20 minutes or so.  No daytime sleeping in bed.  Once I am up and awake for the day, I try not to go back to sleep (say from 7-8am).  I try to get 7-8 hours if sleep.  More than 8 hours of sleep can cause this for me.

    hope this helps!  Good luck!

I have the same experiences and once I come out if it I have to wake up really good or it continues. I sleep on my side too. I try to get at least 7 hours of sleep and don't nap during the day unless I am exhausted. Thanks for the advice and for sharing!
