DH putting baby to bed

I guess we made the mistake of me always putting DD to bed at night and now we're trying to have DH put her down. She SCREAMS every time. We keep the same routine, tried me swaddling her and then handing her to DH, DH doing it all himself... DH feels awful, like he's a terrible father and I feel bad for him but I don't know what else to try. Any suggestions?

Tell him not to give up or be discouraged. We went through the same thing, I ALWAYS put DD to bed, then when I started back to work there were a couple days I wasn't home to do it, she screamed and cried the first couple times but then she realized that's how it has to be a few times a week and she's fine with it now. She even lets DH give her a bottle if I'm home now!! So don't give up it does get better! GL

DH puts LO to sleep every other night. For about a month it was rough and took a couple of hours but now most nights go really well for them both. Just tell him to keep at it. I think we all go through this phase. Good luck!

He just needs to keep trying and realize its nothing he's doing wrong, but LO was in the habit of being put to bed by you, and it's going to take a bit to adjust to Dad at bedtime.
