1st Trimester

1st. Pregnancy after a Miscarriage ( Scared) LOW HCG levels!!

Hello!

I am new to this site and I am hoping that you ladies can give me some advice / wisdom. My husband and I decided to TTC about 2 years ago, we conceived after only 4 months. We miscarried at about 6 weeks, this was devestating to us!

We never stopped trying... My OBGYN gave me chlomid to help me which only gave my large cysts on my 1 Ovary yes I only have 1 ovary... When this failed she sent me to a Infertility Dr. they said I only had a 3% chance of getting pregnant on my own....

Not accepting this answer I started NaPro technology and I am now pregnant after 7 months on this plan. The dr. was able to determine by a series of blood tests that my thyroid was all out of wack and my hormone levels were nuts as well.

We found out last monday 4/22/2013 that we are expecting, took the blood tests Tuesday and my HCG level was at 25, then on Thursday it was at 60... I was told that I should not worry about the number as long as it is rising every 48 hrs. My dr. has also started me on Progesterone shots. I think I am around 3-4 weeks preg.

My questions is - has anyone had really low HCG numbers and had a succesful pregnancy?

Thanks in advance for your help, I am terrified of loosing my pregnancy again!!

  • You probably found out early. I tested positive at 10dpo. In for a beta at 11dpo- it was very low. (11 or 16). It went up steadily from there and ill be 21 weeks with a healthy boy tomorrow!

  • THANK YOU!! so much for replying to me! I am much more at ease now.

Do you remember what your level was at 4 weeks?

  • At 4 weeks, 2 days mine was 559. Last pg on same day it was 73. The number doesn't matter as much as the doubling rate. Good luck!

  • I also had a miscarriage with my first pregnancy, I am sorry you had to go through that. We found out we are expecting  on 04/20 10dpo. I had my first HCG done at 3wks and 6 days and it was 79 and again at 4wks 1 day and it was 193. My doctor also said that the number does not matter, as long as it doubles. We are doing bloodwork every other day until my first appointment on Thursday. I hope everything goes well for you this time and your numbers continue to double :)
  • Everyone's HCG levels starts at about 0 and climbs from there.  You probably just got tested very early in the pregnancy.  The doubling in two days is a very good sign.

  • everyone starts off with low hcg. you have to start somewhere. The thing is that they double every 48-72 hours. As yours have done.
  • My HCG levels are in my signature - but they were considered "low" by the nurse - at 6 weeks I found out I was having twins and this last week (week 10) we saw them - perfectly healthy!  Your doctor is right, as long as the numbers are doubling every 24-48 hours then you are just fine!  I know it's hard not to stress though - I was there too!!

  • I conceived my first month trying after my first miscarriage. My first beta at 13 dpo was 42. I was told it was too low. At 16 dpo, it was 248. I was ecstatic. The nurse was not. At 20 dpo, it was 1665. The OB was still concerned, even though it was rising appropriately. They wanted to be sure it was not another unviable pregnancy, so I had an ultrasound at 5w4d. We didn't see a heartbeat, but everything looked normal. Two weeks later, we saw a perfect heartbeat. DS just turned 7.

At the same stage of pregnancy with dd, my beta was 124. Same stage, drastically different numbers. A low start doesn't mean unviable.
