bath seats?

Do they not sell these anymore?  I never used one with dd because she was fine in the infant tub until she could sit pretty well unassisted and be transitioned into the big bathtub.  My ds can't stand the infant tub, and isn't ready for the big bathtub.  I hate giving sink baths.  What do you use and is there any reason I can't find the bath seats anymore?

Re: bath seats?

  • I use something called a daphne seat.  Not sure if you can buy them in the US or not (I'm in Canada).  We will soon start using it in our big tub as DS is to big to use it in the baby tub anymore (read he splashes and soaks everything now. Lol!). Good luck in your search.

  • why would he hate the infant seat? Maybe he just doesn't like baths.

I used the inflated duck tub once he outgrew the infant tub but they need to be able to sit up to use that.  I've also heard of some parents not using any tub or seat at all and just filling the big tub with an inch water and laying them in it.  Of course you'd have to have a hand on their head the whole time.

He loves baths, but he is very long.  He wants to kick his legs and splash and he keeps kicking the end of the infant tub which makes him mad.

  • Honestly, I wouldn't spend money on another tub and run the chance that he may hate that too. I would just bathe with him OR (what we do when we visit my mom's house) is fold a towel in half and lay it in the bottom of the tub. I usually fold the top part of the towel so it's kind of like a pillow making their head higher up than the rest of their body. Then fill the tub with enough water that baby gets somewhat we but it's not in their ears. Then he can kick all he wants. It's worth a try. Good luck!

  • We just switched to the Primo Eurobath for DD since she got too long for infant tub but still can't sit up. It's great because one side has ramp she can lean on but can use other side once she can sit up. Now she had plenty of room to stretch her legs. We had water running down our bathroom wall from all her splashing last night!
  • If its what I'm thinking of you can buy them at Walmart or buy buy baby. I bought one last year for DS because he loved the big bath tub but it kinda scared him to just sit in there with nothing around him ... I guess for security. He used it about 6 months. It's like round with suction cups on the bottom and they sit in it like a booster seat.

  • It did not even occur to me that one could bathe with their baby, but after reading a thread on here where everyone was like, yeah, I love this, I tried it.  I make the water deep, hold her on my lap, and after I wash her, I let her "swim" by holding her head above the water but letting her kick her feet and splash with her hands without anything in the way.
  • I have washed her in the big tub since she was longer than the kitchen sink (2 weeks). I was just laying her in the tub, but it was difficult with her wiggling. I got a mesh "bath sling" from Walmart that props them up on an angle. Much easier to wash her and she can still kick freely.
