5 weeks "threatened miscarriage"

Hello all, I have been lurking here cautiously for he last couple of weeks and now I have a concern that I want to see if anyone has faced. I got my BFP 2 weeks ago and started to have some symptoms (tender breasts, light nausea, tired)  I tested for several days and my lines kept getting darker so I stopped testing.

On Sunday I woke up and something made me test, the line was barely there! Later that day I started to spot and all of my symptoms were gone. By last night it turned to red blood (tmi) but was light. I went to the doctor this morning and she said my cervix was closed tight and that there was no tissue in the bleeding. She ran a blood test to check my betas and I will get those results tomorrow.  She said that there is a "decent" chance that everything is fine.

I am just having a really hard time believeing that this will not end in miscarriage. Has anyone had an experience like this?

Thanks!

Re: 5 weeks "threatened miscarriage"

  • Something you should try is progesterone. The bleeding could be because you are not producing enough. You can get OTC progesterone creams at health food stores. Your doc can also prescribe it if she feels it is appropriate. Most OBs won't test you for low progesterone production until after multiple losses because the testing is expensive and insurance doesn't often cover it until after then. Either way progesterone can't hurt the baby, and it may help avoid a m/c. You might look into it. =) Best wishes for you and your LO!

  • I am only 10 weeks and have had a diagnoses of a threatened miscarriage twice. My baby is right where it is supposed to be though. Last time I was convinced I had just miscarried because I felt something pass when I went to the bathroom (tmi), but again everything is ok so far. I am now 10 wks 4 days and things could still happen, but I'm trying to stay positive. Good luck! T&P are with you.
  • Well I am definately not an expert on this topic. All I can say is to keep positive thoughts!! I know when I was pregnant with my son I started to bleed red at about 8 weeks... The doc said everything was fine though and I had no complications with the pregnancy. I am keeping my fingers crossed for you!
