I'm a FTM, and I was wondering if 2 carseats, one for my vehicle and one for my husband's would be useful. It would be the same seat so it would work with the stroller. Or should I just get 2 bases? Thanks!
You shouldn't need two infant carseats. Whether you need two bases depends on your lifestyle. We only had one base and just traded cars depending on who had DD. She is almost always with me, so we don't really have to trade all that often. You might need two bases if one of you drops her off at daycare and the other picks her up. You can just buy one carseat, still.
Once you are in the convertible carseats you might need to get two depending on if you used both of the bases. GL!
I'm a FTM but from what I have heard from family and friends, one infant carseat and 1-2 bases. You may need two convertible seats when they are ready to switch over. I guess it depends on your lifestyle and how much care hubby will have. I know we are planning on 2 bases for the infant carseat (one for each car), and probably 2 convertible seats. I'm also going to suggest that our parents buy bases for their car, as we all live in the same town and they will be around a lot, plus my IL's and aunt will be the baby's daycare providers when I go back to work. I believe you can still buckle the infant seat in with a seatbelt even w/o the base but if someone will be transporting the baby a lot, it's probably worth it for them to invest in the base cause they're easier.

This. We have a family car and a no kids car. I stay at home, though, so we don't have to juggle childcare pick up/drop off.
Guess I'm in the minority here, but I had two carseats. I dropped our son off at daycare in the morning and my husband picked him up in the afternoon, so it was much more convenient that way, we didn't have to switch the carseat back and forth and never had to worry if we left it with one person and then the other didn't have the carseat. It was what worked for us, so you may need to analyze your lifestyle and what works best for your individual needs.

We didn't have a car when we were in te infant seat, but dh doesn't have a seat now. He just always takes my car with ds which has worked out one so far. It's not intentional...we just haven't gotten around to picking a seat for his car. We will just do a second base for his seat

We have one seat and two bases for baby. Like a lot of pp's I'm thinking of getting a third base for grandma(s).
