I never did with any of my 3 girls. Now that we may be officially done making babies, I kind of wish i had see at least one of them born. It may have been a better motivation to push with #1, but in all honesty I was a bit afraid to watch.
They brought it in at the very end. I couldn't feel the pushes because of the epidural and it helped me get him out. I had been pushing for about 30 minutes and he was out within 5 minutes of the getting the mirror since I could see what was happening.
I didn't. I was asked, and I was also asked if I wanted to feel her head as she was coming out but I said no to both. I was focused and wanted to stay in the zone, and I pushed her out in only 8 minutes so I guess that worked better for me.
My midwife didn't give me a choice. She said "I'm getting you a mirror and you're going to watch because it will help you push the baby out." I guess she was right, but it also kinda frustrated me because I would see a bunch of baby head when I was pushing, and then little to none when I was breaking between contractions. It was pretty cool though. I didn't think I would want to see it, but when I was in the moment, I couldn't take my eyes off it.
It was offered to me I've declined it with both my births. Seemed kinda gross to me at the time, but maybe it'll be something I want to see with my next.
I had one and didn't think I would use it, but it actually gave me more motivation and once I saw her head I kept going. I'm glad I used it and if we ever have another I will use it again.
Haha, I just had my baby girl Saturday but still in the hospital so haven't been able to post a birth story. I had heard of people using a mirror but when the nurse asked me in the middle of delivering, I frantically shouted NO! For some reason, everyone in the room found this funny. : I honestly didn't need it though... Like PPs, I was so focused on getting her out, I didn't need any extra motivation, and was done in 13 minutes.
I didn't with my first and am glad. My DH said it looked terrible and I had blood blisters popping. Sorry for tmi. I pushed 3 hours. With my second I had a mirror and it was amazing! I am so glad I got to see it all. I pushed 15 mins and it wasn't gross at all.
