May 2012 Moms

I get to stay home this summer!

I am excited that I am staying home with my kids this summer.  I am quitting work at the end of May and will pursue nursing school in the Fall.  I have never been home with either of my kids for this long.  I am very excited to spend so much more time with them.  Any advice from mom's who stay home?  Should I stick to a routine/schedule each day and plan activities?  Not sure what to do here! Smile  Thanks!

  • Congrats! I love staying home! I normally stick to a basic schedule. Breakfast, lunch, and naps are all around the same time everyday. I think it helps keep my kids from getting overly hungry or tried. It helps keep any fits to a minimum. We spend a lot of time outside. My boys would live out there if I let them. We have lots of neighbors, so most of our get together are impromptu.
  • I figured we will have a lot of outside time this summer which is good.  It will keep my DD busy!  I think I will try to develop a routine for them.  This will be so different from the regular weekend routine but I am excited for the change!

  • We don't have a real schedule we are VERY flexible. We run errands, play eat and sleep when ever we can where ever we are. It works for us.

  • Congrats on going to nursing school!  I've been a nurse for 7 years and the schedule is so flexible so you can make it work for your family.  I took a long break after DD was born so I stayed at home with her until she was 8 months.  We established a routine that has adjusted of course as she's gotten older, but she sticks to the same schedule whether she's she home with me, or at the baby sitter's house.  I participated in my area's Meetup Mommy Group when I SAH, but I don't get to often anymore now that i'm back to work.
