We were getting the girls ready for bed last night and needed to put Baby down for a second. Since we were in the girls' room, DH set him down in DD2's crib.
Cue epic meltdown from DD2. "Noooo BABY! NOOOOOO!"
Then we had to change Baby's diaper. We only have the one change table. As soon as we laid him on it, DD2 started on it again "Nooooo! Baby!!!!" all the while pulling down her pants and tugging at her diaper.
Maybe this whole "new baby" business is weighing heavier on her than I expected.
Re: oops
Oh nooooo....
Just goes to show me that no matter how much I want to try to plan, I have absolutely no idea what to expect from DD when this new baby arrives.
I'm sure she will adjust. Give her time, she will get there!
My plan right now is to move DD1 to a twin bed when we move into the new house. Her convertible crib will then go to DD2, and DD2's crib will be taken apart and hidden until Baby Boy is ready for it. Hopefully it'll give DD2 time to 1) forget about it and 2) not care so much about her brother using it.
As for sharing her change table and everything else - oh well. Baby Boy isn't going anywhere, so she better get used to it, right? Funny thing is DD1, who was an only child until her sister came along, had absolutely no such reaction when DD2 was born. Goes to show each child really is different.
