sleep

It takes us all the way to midnight for our daughter to fall asleep. she gets formula and breastmilk..  How does everyone get there kids to go to bed early?

Re: sleep

  • C goes to bed at 8. I change/sleepsack and feed at 730 and shes in her crib at 8. I just picked that time one day and stuck to it. If shes fussy and doesn't go right to sleep, she stays in there until she does. I did CIO. So she usually rolls around for 10 mins or so then goes to sleep. What happens when you try to put your LO down earlier?

  • Right away, I started a bed time routine. After you get that started, work on that for a month or so then start to push back bed time. Be consistent.

    Here's how ours works:

5pm he gets a veggie or fruit puree.

I offer a 2-3oz bottle after he finishes his food. (He usually doesn't eat his entore bottle)

I start dinner for DH and myself. I cook and eat. Usually done by 630-7. We take a walk to the mailbox with the dog.

After our walk, it's bath time, 4-5 oz bottle, and rocking to sleep.

LO is in bed anywhere between 830-930.

I do dishes, wash bottles, visit w/ DH when he comes home from work, make DH lunch, shower, and I'm in bed between 10-11.

LO sleeps anywhere between 10-12 hours.

  • Benjamin changed it himself really. It used to be 10. But it's between 7 and 8 now. We play, take a bath, do lotion and pajamas, turn on white noise, turn off all the lights, bottle, rock, prayer, and then crib. Sometimes I put him down awake and sometimes asleep. He is waking once a night to eat now but was STTN last week.
I would try a set routine and move bedtime a bit earlier each night.

  • Second the bedtime routine comments, for us it works to give her a bath, put on pijamas, BF and hold her to sleep by 8pm. You could try giving her a dream feed around 11pm if she's used to eating late.
