Update: telling parents

Well I told my parents yesterday and it went fairly well. Nobody screamed or cried. I think I'll give them a few days for it to sink in then call them. Lol.

Now that the pressure is off, I can finally relax and get excited!  Here's to Dec 2013 babies!!  :)

  • Congrats! We have yet to still tell our parents! We're trying to think of something special to do. I think we might go with the egg in a nest idea that they crack open and has the due date on it. However we won't know the official due date until our first OB appointment on the 29th of May. But we want to at least tell our parents before then! So we're still thinking of what exactly to do. I'm glad everything went well with your news!

Ahhhh I'm soooo nervous about telling my parents!! We were with them all afternoon today and I just got totally freaked out about it! This baby was not planned, and though I am beyond thrilled, there are a lot of things up in the air in our life right now...we WERE planning to wait longer before trying. It was definitely a whoops! kind of thing. My parents have made it super clear they think we should wait a couple years before having kids ... there's a back story that I won't go all into, but it's basically just what they think at this particular point in time and what would be most convenient for them. I just have no idea how they are going to react. So I'm scared. And I'm mad. Because we're freaking 27 amp; 28, married, have a house, and both have jobs! Is it PERFECT timing?! No! Is it EXACTLY how we wanted it to go? Maybe not! But I don't care I'm having a baby and I am so happy, this is all I ever dreamed of!! I am just terrified and my husband thinks they're going to be very serious and sobering about it and I don't want that! I want happiness! I want joy! Excitement! This is the FIRST GRANDCHILD! P.S. I'm an only child so seriously, it is a HUGE deal! I also don't want them telling us what to do and all butting into our lives. UGH sorry. Rant over. I'm just really freaked out about how this will go down...nbsp;But really happy yours went well! Maybe I will be as lucky... Maybe. Congrats and enjoy now!

My parents are the same exact way! Like to a T. I am beyond terrified to tell them but we agreed that this week it will happen. Eeek!
  • I am happy that everything that went well telling your parents! I am so nervous to tell mine, especially this early into the game!
  • My parents found out before I intended to tell them (bit of a long story that doesn't matter any more) and I was nervous telling them anyway because I am single and have no intention of being with the father and my parents are very traditional. They weren't happy, but have since let it sink in and are getting used to it. I refer to my baby as peanut since it is too early to tell if it is a boy or a girl and they sent me a book addressed to "peanut" :).
  • Glad it went well!
