I had a lost last April at 11 weeks and I hit 12 weeks today. I've been freaking out just a little because my NT Scan is coming up this Thursday and I'm afraid there will be no heartbeat again. So I bought the only doppler Babies R Us had and searched and THOUGHT I found a heartbeat, my two aides THOUGHT they heard a heartbeat, and my SIL THOUGHT she heard one too. Still, I couldn't tell so I asked my best friend to check this weekend and she said "Nope, don't hear a thing. Stop freaking yourself out. I know you had a miscarriage last year but sometimes these things are for the best." I love her but can't believe she used the phrase "sometimes these things are for the best" and now I feel even more freaked out.
Thanks BF.
Re: Best friend has freaked me out.
That's an awful thing to say. Just keep trying. Watch some YouTube videos to see if that helps distinguish sounds. FTR, even 12w is early to find the HB on the doppler. It will sound like a fast chuga-chuga or galloping horses.
Ahh best friends!
1. look on you tube at doppler videos. It helps you know what you're looking for.
2. hopefully.. she meant the first miscarriage was for the best. Which we all know even though it's painfully hard to admit that miscarriages usually mean there was a problem with the baby.
3. kick her in the shin next time!
