Since I have decided to EP I was wondering if there were any guidelines to the amt of oz's I should be giving. Yesterday and today he has been demanding a bit more than usual. I am thinking it is a possible growth spurt but since I am a FTM I have to question everything. I normally feed him every 2.5 to 3 hours 2oz of BM. I pump about 2oz total every 2 hours (very time consuming lol) The morning pump gives me about 4oz total so I can keep up with his high demands throughout the day and even miss a pump session if I am out and about. Well since I have begun to ramble the point of my post is...Is it written anywhere an amt of BM to be given to little one at each feeding and at what age?

I did a lot of pumping rather than nursing for my second baby. I never worried about how much I was giving him and just went off of what he wanted. My son also basically came out of the womb drinking 2oz of breastmilk every 2-3 hours and when he started waking more often or not seeming satisfied after a feed I'd just up the amount and it would fix the problem. I'd say go off his/her cues and keep pumping like crazy. It totally sucks, but I would pump every two to three hours for a few more weeks before dropping down to once every four hours. From what I read while I was pumping it takes most women 12 weeks before your supply is established and if you don't keep at it religiously you may not be able to keep up with him/her. At least this is what I did and I ended up with a ton of milk that I could freeze (weaned at 6 months and my son just got his last bag of frozen milk about a week ago at 11 months!).
Have you checked out KellyMom.com? That was my go to sight if I ever had any kind of breastfeeding questions/concerns.
