September 2013 Moms

Long Time No Post

Hey fellow September Mommas! It's been awhile since I've posted/check in around here. Life has been... life. Busy! We are scheduled to find out baby's sex this coming Friday and we can't wait, but haven't even begun to discuss names. I've been noticing a few flutters and movement now and then, which is exciting. I knew before I even got pregnant again that I wanted a natural birth with #2, so this past week we hired a doula, and I'm very excited about working with her and having her at the birth. Are any other moms here using doulas/planning natural births? I planned for and had an epidural with my first, so I'm a little nervous, but I know the hospital I'm delivering at is very natural friendly, and my doula is well known there and with my OB/GYN group. I'm probably more nervous about how DH is going to handle it. Any recommendations to pass along to him from those who've gone natural before? We'll be doing prepared childbirth classes with her this summer, so hopefully that will really prepare him :) Anyhow, that's what's going on here. And I swore I would post/check in here more often this time....

  • I'm a FTM So the doula option is a new idea to me I wasn't familiar with. It sounds exciting and it's great the hospital is natural friendly!

  • I'm a firsttime mom, planning on a natural birth. Unfortunately, the hospital our insurance covers is notorious for pressuring moms into pitocin, epidural, csection, the whole cycle. We're planning on hiring a doula to help us advocate for our birth plan. How did you choose your doula? Should I be looking for one now, at 20 weeks? From my friends who have had natural births, they say their best advice is to labor at home as long as possible. Good luck!
  • My husband's two cents: you husband needs a "dummy hand" or hand brace and ear plugs! Rofl! He's just kidding but I thought it was amusing. He wasn't even in the country when I went natural.
