Hi ladies. I posted the other day about starting solids. DD is almost 6 mo. She's been mainly breastfed but we do supplement with formula. I was gonna start with sweet potatoes today. But she's had the sniffles and a cough. Lots of snot. Last night she had a low grade fever. Should you really introduce solids if they're sick? I was worried about being able to tell if she has an allergy to something.

Signs of an allergy may include diarrhea, vomiting, a swollen face, wheezing, or a rash. Sweet potatoes are not a high risk food for allergies, especially if food allergies don't run in your family. If she is truly miserable I would possibly wait because she might just not be up for something new. If it's just a cough and she isn't that affected by it, I don't see any reason why you couldn't.

Agree with PP. Not a huge allergy risk, but if she's feeling low, she might not be willing to eat.

Sweet potatoes isn't a common allergen. I've only heard of one kid allergic, my seven month old nephew.
