Is this a serious question, because "ugly" is highly subjective.
If you don't like the look of the wooden gliders then be prepared to shell out the big bucks for an upholstered glider. Check out Pottery Barn Kids, Land of Nod and Restoration Hardware Baby. They all have gorgeous gliders.
A glider is a glider, there is only so much you can do with style and maintain functionality. Ours probably won't ever have a permanent home on our main floor (thinking basement maybe) but I don't think it is ugly. Ours is dutailier from BRU, but if cost isn't a factor, the dutailier website has all different styles.
2 years, 2 surgeries, 2 clomid fails, 2 IUIs, 1 loss, IVF #1 - 10/25/10 = BFP!, DS is now 3.5yrs!
TTC #2 - 6/12 surgery #3, FET #1 & 1.2 = BFN, 12/2012 FET #2 = BFP! DD is 1.5 yrs!
Surprise! 12/16/14 BFP, loss #2 12/31/14
I can't wait for the "im getting a divorce" post in 5 years or so because your husbands were fed up with your disgusting chair asses from playing on the knot all day and getting fired 4-5 times for not doing any work. you guys are all winners!! ~ Laur929
I like the ones that look like comfy armchairs. That being said, I don't think they're worth the money and they take up too much room. We've gotten a lot more use out of our beanbag chair.
Agreed! They use to be nice looking before I was married I'm talking like 10 years ago, now tey have gotten small and ugly!! We just settled on one but I'm not super thrilled....

I hadn't put that much thought to the gliders, but now that you mention it gliders aren't the best looking chairs around. They do serve a great purpose though.

We are getting a hand me down from an aunt but plan to have it reupholstered to match the nursery theme. You may want to do something similar with one on Craitslist of freecycle. I'm excited about how it will match the nursery

I've been looking for a Dutailier just like that on craigstlist, to switch with our fully upholstered chair for our third. The fully upholst. one is quite cozy, but it's too low and deep to get out of comfortably. I don't love the look of the Dutailier, but would love the support for nursing and rocking.
The fully upholstered chairs don't come up on craigslist very often, but every now and then, at least in my area (Seattle).
I have really long femur's which is a bit of an issue for comfort...I need a seat that's long enough. This one works. AND it looks like something we could use in our living room after.
I bought a glider with my last pregnancy, but I hardly used it and it became a catch-all for clothing and what not. We just went and purchased a rocker recliner to replace the glider because it is so much more comfortable and looks a lot nicer. Plus, we only paid $50 more for this chair then the glider.

Ours looks almost like this too. It's a glider for a baby's room, so it is what it is.
This is how we got out fully upolstered glider too!
