When did you stop pures?

For those of you whose LO ate pures, how old were they when they stopped pures and did only finger foods?

  • DS could go to all finger foods right now...he is just over 10 months, but sometimes it is just easier to do purees...especially after a long day or in a rush in the morning.

I an trying to transition to table foods full time, but some of the purees make it too easy, especially the meals.

I figure if I have him off fully before 1 yr that will be good. my pedi said if he is good with eating the table foods let him. He still has some issues with feeding himself which is why the purees help us out.

  • By 9 months he was refusing pur?es.  He will happily eat a pouch of pur?e now as a snack but at mealtimes, he was much happier and ate better when we switched him to all table food.
  • We stopped purees around 7.5 months and he has been eating whatever we eat since then.

  • DD started refusing all pur?es (and being spoon fed) at 9mo, so we went with all table food at that point.

  • We are in the process right now. I would say it's about 50/50 puress/table food. Table food for sure if we are out and about. Then I don't have to pack anything - we just give him some of what we are having. Sometimes at home he'll start with finger foods in his highchair as I'm finishing up making everyone else's food and as soon as I sit down he starts whining and wanting me to feed him. Hopefully by 10 months we'll be onto 100% table foods. I looked in DS1's baby book and that's what we did with him.

  • I still use the veggie purees. He usually has a jar once a day or every other day.

  • Se is 11.5 months and has not had pured food for over two months. She is on all table food and has no teeth. It takes her a bit longer to eat than most but she does great

I am a 69 lurker. Eryn decided she didn't like pured food at seven months. We started finger food. I had planned on BLW but chickened out.
