Natural Birth

decided to go natrual

Hello ladies!

I decided today-after watching the business of birth-that I really want an all natural birth. I was talking with my SIL and she suggested that it would be good to go with meds. And the more I thought about it the more it sounded like a good idea. With my Son I had problems with the epi and it didn't even work. Pitocin just made my labor worse with my oldest and with my youngest I just labored and delivered so fast there wasn't any pain at all (and I had an epi!).

I think I am making a really good decision not only for me but for my baby. So I just wanted to hear everyone else stories about going all natural because I am really nervous!!!

Re: decided to go natrual

  • I'm a little confused by your post. I'm a FTM so I can't share any experience but if you go back through this board there are lots of birth stories posted . I also recommend reading Ina May's book. she was a midwife featured in The Business of Being Born which is what I'm assuming you meant. The first half of her Guide to Childbirth is natural birth stories.

  • Sorry-I meant go without meds. I hate the auto spell I have on my computer it's annoying o.O I am choosing to go without meds and my SIL was telling me that it was a better option. Ive had three pregnancies and my first two with meds was terrible!

Anyway thanks for responding! I will be checking her out!

  • Congrats on your decision!  My suggest is to read a bit about natural birth and decide if classes are right for you.  Also, its my opinion that your birth team is just as important as your desire to deliver naturally.  Make sure your provider and the setting in which you deliver are both open to natural birth and the people you allow in the birth room are 100% on your side.  Good luck!

  • Thanks everyone for their response! I have chosen a midwife and will be making a birth plan that I plan to stick to unless something happens that requires another form of intervention. I really want to have it my way this time-and because I didn't know about a lot of things I'm sure if I had known I could have fought hard enough to have my children's births the way I wanted to.

So I will have my way! I just found out that the place where I will be giving birth also does water births too so I will be looking into that as well.
